Join Bluestone Farms to learn about all aspects of community building and organic / permaculture farming:
- crop production,
- raising pastured poultry, grass-fed beef cattle (Scottish Highlands) and Guinea hogs.
- Bluestone Farms is also creating value-added farm products, farm carpentry, structure building, and more!
- Interns participate in morning and afternoon/evening chores as well as regular farm work on a daily basis,
- serving at our new Farmstore
5 days a week / 6 hours a day.
Educational Opportunities & Skill Building
This is the perfect
opportunity for someone wishing to learn more about all aspects of organic / permaculture farming and community building.
- Permaculture design
- Portable saw mill operations (Woodmizer) Help organize and participate in workshops on healthy living
- Preserving and canning (salsa, tomato sauce, jams, applesauce…etc)
- Structure building (barns, sheds, housing, fencing, wigwam, tree house…)
- Stone work and landscaping: walls, patios / enhancing natural ecosystems
Housing: We provide on-farm “primitive” housing in a variety of dwellings: camper, wigwam, teepee, tent, barn and for longer stays the newly renovated "Sawyer House", our public building.
Meals: farm dinners shared
One-month to full season opportunities available.

What to Expect…
An opportunity to dive into crop production and animal husbandry and all that it entails. Daily activities include feeding, watering, rotating pasture, etc. and for crop production: preparing soils, planting, watering, harvesting, packaging, selling at the farm market…etc.
- Hard but fulfilling work
- Work in the elements - rain/shine, hot/cold
- Solitary and group work
- Delicious seasonal meals prepared with our home grown food as well as local, organic produce and fruits!
- Free time for hiking, rafting, camping, kayaking, etc… / Next Bus Stop to NYC is 5 miles from farm.
